Workshop Continuing Education Unit (One CEU)

Once you finish a UMass Wind Energy Center workshop, we are able to provide you with official electronic documentation equivalent to one CEU, in order to maintain a professional license or certification.

When purchasing a CEU, it will be emailed to you in a printable format from our University Without Walls (UWW) office. This paperwork is typically required by states, provinces or countries to offer proof of activity completion and attendance in our workshop. The fee covers UWW registration and administration.

Since our workshops involve a self-study activity with online training modules that relate to compliance, each meets the requirement to qualify for one CEU. One CEU equals ten contact hours or professional development hours (PDH) of participation in organized continuing education classes and/or training conducted by a qualified instructor.

Please allow 48 hours to receive instructions on how to setup access to your course. Responses will arrive on weekdays. For other inquiries, please contact lackner@umass.edu

More information:

The engineering profession is constantly adjusting its practices and updating the standards to keep up with these changes. It is important for wind energy professionals who focus on mechanical or civil engineering to stay current. An effective way to maintain professional competency is continuing education.

Many technical professions require continual accrual of PDH through CEUs. This is in order to prove continuing professional competency (CPC) and even to sometimes maintain professional licenses.

Currently, in the United States, forty-two states require continuing professional competency for Licensed Professional Engineers. If you are licensed in any one of these states, you are required to satisfy the continuing education requirements mandated by your State Licensing Board. For specific information regarding your CPC requirements, please check on your state of licensure.
