As part of new international student orientation, the Office of Global Affairs will offer a bus shuttle service for new international students in fall 2025. The service will pick up at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) terminal E and go directly to riders’ chosen destination in the UMass Amherst area. Tickets are $50.00 USD per rider, with F-2 and J-2 family members under the age of 18 riding for free.
Service Dates: Saturday, August 23 – Friday, August 29

Direct Service
The UMass Express is the only shuttle with direct service between Boston Logan International Airport and UMass Amherst, making it the fastest way to Amherst. Private bus companies have multiple stops, and the average trip length is 4+ hours. The UMass Express is the safest, fastest, and most comfortable way to travel to the Amherst area.
UMass Support
The UMass Express is operated by the Office of Global Affairs and employs dedicated staff to assist with booking, communications, pre-arrival and day-of support. When you book with the UMass Express, you will be in contact with ISSS staff from booking to arrival in the Amherst area.
Instructions for users
You will be asked to provide the following required information to complete the transaction: your name, Spire ID, UMass email address, non-UMass email address, complete flight information, and a WhatsApp number for the driver to contact you the day of arrival.
Please note: you will be asked to provide the address of your destination. If you do not have your destination address confirmed at the time of booking, our office will follow up with you closer to your date of arrival.
